You will not have time to read a workbook in the middle of every decision. The FLS New Supervisor Survival Card puts a few practical reminders in a format you can keep close.
Front: pause, sort, lead
The front of the card prompts you to work through five priorities:
- Safe: What must happen now to protect people and the operation?
- Known: Which facts do you know, and what are you assuming?
- Mine: Is this your decision, or must you elevate it?
- Clear: Who needs direction, a deadline, and a standard?
- Closed: What must be documented, checked back, or handed off?
Back: words you can use
The reverse side gives short prompts for setting direction, coaching, correcting behavior, slowing conflict, and briefing the next supervisor. Use the phrases as a starting point, then speak plainly about the actual situation.
The final filter asks whether the action is safe, within policy, and explainable tomorrow. It is a reminder to think through your decision and follow your agency's requirements.
Print and keep it within reach
This is a two-page printable PDF with a front and back, rather than a fillable worksheet. Print at 100% scale, follow the two-sided alignment instructions, and trim on the dashed line.
