Promotion Ready Pack

A promotion panel needs to understand how you think, how you act, and what your experience shows about your readiness. The FLS Promotion Ready Pack combines interview preparation with an honest look at your current leadership habits.

Two tools included in the download

• Promotion Interview Prep Sheet: a four-page worksheet for the role you want, leadership evidence, clear examples, and interview practice.
• Supervisor Self-Assessment: a five-page assessment of six leadership areas, with evidence behind your ratings and a practical improvement plan.

Prepare from your own experience

Start with the assessment and identify strengths you can demonstrate. Be equally clear about a habit you are improving. Use the interview worksheet to connect those observations to actual situations, your own actions, the result, and what you learned.

Choose examples you can discuss beyond the opening answer. A follow-up question should help you explain your reasoning, not expose a story you memorized without understanding your part in it.

Use the preparation to think about the responsibilities of the next rank as well as the interview itself. Explain how you will set expectations, develop employees, exercise judgment, and follow through.
